Opinions

Immigration Immigration, to me, it is one of the most natural things since the living beings exists. We are always looking for better conditions to live. A place to live, get food, safety from predators, and it is pretty much the same nowadays. I think there are a lot of people that has a lot of prejudices based on misinformation and political opinions. I totally agree with immigration, but I do recognize that there’s a lack of political laws to regulate it. Chilean education I am in totally disagree with the structure, quality and how unequal the Chilean education is. Of course there are exceptions, but I think that most of the primary and secondary institutes are not giving the kids an holistic vision of the world. We are much more formed to function than to think. Legalizing marijuana and other drugs I think that to talk about drugs, we must distinguish what is a drug. A drug is considered any substance that alters the nervous system and it could be natural ...

Post-Graduate course

For a Post-Graduate course, I’d do a Master in Forest and Nature Conservation with a specialization in Ecology. If I had the chance, I’d study abroad, especially in Netherlands because it’s a country that has been doing amazing projects about protecting and conservation of its nature and animals, and it would be a part-time course to work while I study. But if I couldn’t study abroad, I’d do a Master in Wild Areas and Nature Conservation at University of Chile. I’d do one of these courses because it’d allow me to work in state and private forestry and nature conservation services, and environmental assessment agencies. I think that the high development in forestry and farming, mining and industrial has demonstrated that there’s a lack of specialists in wild areas, nature conservation and ecosystemic services since the corporations has been in trouble with the communities for extracting resources and ignoring them, while it should be the very opposite, because they use the res...

Flight Attendant

A work I’d like to have is pretty much related to my first post. As I begun to be very interested in learning English, I also started to be interested in travel and know about different languages and cultures. And a work that allows it, is being a Flight Attendant. But even though I wanted it, I didn’t follow that “dream” and ended up studying Forestry Engineering. I thought I’d never wanted it anymore, but I was wrong, now I don’t know if pause my studies in the university to become a Flight Attendant or finish the career first. The salaries vary according the experience you have, but it’s a well-paid job. Working as a Flight Attendant, you can make to visit a lot of countries, but even it is for a short period of time, you still are visiting them and probably you could be there another time. To enter the job, you must take a safety training, that includes first aid, swimming lessons, defibrillation, decompression emergencies, etc. There’s even a height requirement,...

Forestry Engineering

Since 2017, I’m studying Forestry Engineering at the University of Chile in the Faculty of Forestry Sciences and Nature Conservation. I was always into the biology and nature theme. I passed from wanting to be a nurse to a biology licensed with an environment mention, but never knew about this engineering. On 2015, my score on the PSU wasn’t as good as to be selected to the biology degree, so I preferred not to postulate to any career to study the next year and level up my score. But my mom, just after the online postulations were closed, made me read all the careers this university has because I needed to have more options in case I couldn’t enter the next year. While I was reading the list, I knew about the Forestry Engineering, I liked it instantly but as the online postulations were closed a few moments ago, I couldn’t enter and had to wait a year to do it. I think that as a forestry student, we have a lot of benefits, such as all the fieldwork we do since we start, and ...

Two Door Cinema Club

When I was fourteen years old, I found on Youtube an indie-pop and indie-rock band called Two Door Cinema Club by a song that kept all that day on my head. To me, it appeared a happy and moved song. TDCC has been my favorite band since then. On 2016, were rumors that they could be for their second time at the Lollapalooza, so as I was working and studying to enter to the university the next year, I had the money to buy a pass to the festival even though they weren’t confirmed yet. The month after I bought the ticket, the organization confirmed them. The day they had to play, I was very anxious and happy to see them for the first time, so one and a half hour before the show I went to the stage to stand there till they started. When they did it, just with the first song, they transformed the public atmosphere and we were all singing out loud, jumping till we couldn’t do it anymore. I was so freaking happy and energetic, I even had shivers till the next day. That was one of the ...

England

For my first post, I'll write about a country that I'd love to visit because of its history and its language. That country is England. I have a uncle that lives there for being a political exiliate, so since I remember, I've had to communicate with him by email. So while as I kept growing, I did as much as I could to speak, write and read well in English. Such as read translated lyrics of my favorites songs, watching movies with and without the subtitles, etc. As I found it very fun to do, it didn't mean something annoying or complicated to me. That's how I begun to be very interested in English, the history behind England and its beautiful architecture. I really hope I can make to get there to study and work for a period of time, that'd be an amazing experience and opportunity.  Now I'm saving money to visit it, I hope it to be soon.
